GAMES GIRLS PLAY
EPISODE
FIVE
As
I approached Brenda’s hostel, I could notice that they had been awake already.
I knocked but no one answered, I knocked again but still no one answered. Since
the door was visibly not locked and these are my friends, I decided to try to
check who was inside. I noticed someone lying on Brenda’s bed while Charline’s
was empty. This meant that Charline could have left and Brenda was still
sleeping may be she was tired. I sat on the chair while admirably watching
Brenda sleep. After like five minutes of my watching, I guess she felt that
someone was watching and so her eyes opened and she could see me.
Her;
Hey
Me:
Hey, how are you?
Her:
Why did you not wake me up? And How long have you been sited there?
Me:
Not long ago and I thought it gentle not to disturb your sleep.
Her:
Oh, that’s thoughtful of you. So, what brings you here this early morning? Your
girlfriend is not here as you can see.
Me:
I actually came for you not her.
Her:
Me? Why?
Me:
My phone. I could see it on her reading table. I wondered if Charline had not
seen it.
Her:
Oh, year I came with your phone. I had put it in my bag since you could not
control yourself last night.
Me:
Oh sorry, I disturbed you.
Her:
No need, what are friends for!
Me:
Thanks.
Her:
Welcome, what have you brought for me?
Me:
I have brought yoghurt pointing at the polythene bag I had placed at the table.
Her:
Idiot, who takes cold yoghurt in such a cold morning? You must be sick
upstairs. Anyway thanks!
Me:
I knew you would say that. What else could I bring, since I don’t know you that
much? Anyway Welcome
She
smiled and pointed at my phone as I was standing to leave. At this moment I saw
how her smile is beautiful. I picked it and already started dialing Asiimwe’s
number.
Asiimwe
picked my call and immediately told him of what happened at the restaurant. He
was surprised that Charline was doing this and actually he was so sure about it
because it had come from the best friend. We agreed that we meet up for a drink
at Hotel La grand in Makerere Kavule at 20:00hrs. I rushed to the Library to
prepare for the mock court session I was to have at 14:00 later.
The
mock court was done and of course I am the best lawyer in making I won the
case. Immediately I prepared to head to Kampala and meet Asiimwe. I reached
Makerere at 19:30hrs as I am always good at keeping time. I asked for a bottle
Nile beer to warm up the meeting. I galloped it and immediately ordered for my Guinness
bottle to start on the waiting for the big man Asiimwe.
Asiimwe
reached after 40 minutes I was on my second bottle of Guinness and he
immediately asked for his tusker malt ready to get drunk. I am always a tough
looking guy but when I get drunk I loosen up and I spill even the deepest
secret I always have. My guys usually make sure that I don’t get drunk in
public because I can spill all their secrets to anyone. One time I drunk ten
bottles of Guinness and could not even speak English anymore. It’s at this time
I realized that I could speak French perfectly well. All the fear of making
mistakes had gone and so could speak only French and my friends can never
forget what happened that night. The only good thing about it is that I was
speaking their secrets in French and so only focused on laughing at me.
As
Asiimwe was taking his drinks I started with my words, “Man ladies are not
easy” he responded that he understands and that’s why he does not date any. I
told him how much I loved and respected Charline but she should not have been
the one doing to me. “Charline you are a whore” I screamed on top of my voice.
Asiimwe just knew that my moment for speaking the truth had come, he
immediately begged the manager to allow us have a room where I could do my
ranting without disturbing anyone’s peace. The manager obliged but I was
hesitant to use the room with no serious reason, you know how drunken people
can be stubborn sometimes. Asiimwe requested the help of the bouncer and they
pulled me to the room which was already paid by him. He locked the room and
told me to share with him what happened. “Man, ladies are not easy,” I talked
in low tone. Immediately tears started rolling out of my eyes and it is at this
point I agreed that I was actually hurt by the actions of Charline. I was
previously acting manly but the reality is that I loved Charline with my whole
being.
I
cried out my pain while narrating how I had been suspecting Charline’s move
with James. All this while, Asiimwe was keeping quite while listening to me. He
knows my therapy is talking. If I am angry at anything, I only need to have
space I can express myself freely and my anger will be gone. But in this
situation I felt empty. Chaline’s place in my heart was big and she was the
only one. Losing her was leaving an empty space and I would rather get angry
than feeling empty. I looked at the world and felt like it was slipping away
from me. I wanted to end my life because I felt utmost despair. I had put my
all my eggs in one basket. “Honestly, I have never seen you like this the
entire time we have been together,” Asiimwe talked. I told him that I was
feeling all alone in this world and could not comprehend why it was like this. “This
world is unfair, it can’t make any sense,” I spoke while looking at Asiimwe. I
could not understand why good people always get preyed on. Charline was the
best of my life. She had given me reason to live. At least I could fight for
someone and that was Charline. Asiimwe told me that it was time for us to go,
the manager needed the room. I don’t know where all the alcohol had gone, I
felt so sober but no energy to move. We immediately left the room to Bwaise tax
park and boarded back to Mukono.
